In our digital age, we are amassing large amounts of data, generated not only by surveys but also as a by-product of everyday life activities such as online shopping, use of social networks, or even remotely controlling a washing machine via a smartphone. Advanced techniques for analyzing these data allow us to gain insights more quickly, uncover previously unknown relationships, and foster innovation.
IPSDS attracts professionals working with data collection and data analysis, who choose to enhance their skills through an online learning environment. With this challenging English-taught program, you will be ready to tackle fundamental changes in the ways how survey and big data are generated, integrated, and disseminated. The program prepares you for a wide range of research and practitioner positions where data use is crucial.
IPSDS offers multidisciplinary curriculum taught by faculty from world’s top ranked universities, statistical agencies and businesses. The program is offered jointly through the University of Mannheim and the Joint Program in Survey Methodology – a consortium of the University of Maryland, the University of Michigan, and Westat.
"I‘d recommend the program to all people working with data who want to understand why their data, be it big or small, is probably not objective or raw and want to enable themselves and others to be better at data-driven decision making."
– Markus Nutz, 29, IPSDS student
